The world today is unlike that of times past. People are finding themselves with fewer and fewer hours of free time. An intense pressure is mounting. Feel it?

A viscious positive feedback cycle of daily grinding in the struggle just to sustain, may become our downfall. Individuals of the original Hunting and Gathering societies that existed some 24,000 years ago had to work (work = hunting + gathering + migrating) only about 20 hours per week to survive. This leaves 148 hours of leisure time per week. The transition to agriculture escalated the average weekly labor hours to 38. This system that we have stumbled upon today, in the name of progress, yields a nanofraction of the free hours that were once available to us.

Obviously there is no turning back and it is highly unlikely that there will be any effort or trend toward simplification. Therefore we must maximize! We must utilize every minute of every day. We need to divert -- to take time to reflect, challenge, and experience.

We must make the most of this one life that we are given on this sphere.
